Requirements define the actions a learner must complete in order to progress through a pathway. Issuers can add requirements to a pathway step based on Canvas courses, Canvas assignments, earned credentials, or manual experiences.
Canvas assignment requirements allow pathway progress to reflect a learners graded submission for a specific assignment. Progress is based on the learners most recent graded submission in Canvas. This lesson explains how to add a requirement to a pathway step and configure the requirement settings.
Notes:
- To use Canvas assignments as pathway requirements, there must be at least one active Canvas Credentials LTI connection.
- Letter Grade and GPA grading models are not supported.
- Supported grading types include Points, Percentage, and Completion.
- Assignment grading settings are imported from Canvas and cannot be edited in Pathways.

If the assignment is completion-based, no numeric threshold is required.

Add Canvas Course
When adding a Canvas Course requirement, the system checks whether Canvas access is enabled for the organization.
If the organization setting is disabled, a message displays instructing issuers to contact their organization administrator to grant access.
If Canvas access is enabled, you can proceed to select a course requirement.
Depending on configuration, select an instance and/or account [1]. To locate a course requirement, filter by Course Name or ID [2], Teacher Name [3], or Term [4]. Issuers can also browse available courses [5], each displaying its name, sub-account, and term. To open the course in Canvas, click the View Details link [6].
