I really like the ability in speedgrader to make screencast (video) comments. However, I would like to know if the student viewed them. I see that the recordings do show up in the course files under 'uploaded media', but I see no way to get the analytics on these. Thoughts?
Here is a screenshot from an attempt to create a new Athena account. What does it mean when it says "supports open Canvas connections" or "Canvas Connection Open"? Can we close our Canvas instance to connections?
We are an architecture, design, and engineering education, and so, Pages and Assignments are fairly elaborate, with texts, images, etc., carefully designed within the limitations of Canvas. I need to test newly designed Pages and Assignments before a course is published and well before Pages and Assignments become…
How do I reset my cidilabs login?
I haven't been able to find any solutions that currently work. Respondus has been suggested but my college does not have that available in Canvas. I've printed one exam from Canvas as a pdf but that isn't the best solution. I found a 30-day trial I could use but before doing that I wanted to ask if anyone else has tried…
I teach a music history class that heavily uses embedded audio. I'd like to be able to keep the time stamp active on the media player so that students can more easily follow along. It'd also be nice to just reduce the player to the controls and progress bar, but that's less important to me. Is there api access, or a…
Hi all, Faculty at our institution have asked whether a concluded course can be added back to the Dashboard after it has moved to Past Enrollments. What we've verified so far (admin, tested via Act as User on a faculty account): Active enrollments: the star in Courses > All Courses works normally — tooltip reads "Click to…
Symptoms: Creating a new Announcement (or Discussion) throws Canvas's generic error page: "Sorry, Something Broke." In Quiz question editors, the Rich Content Editor (RCE) text box doesn't render — instead of the WYSIWYG editor, you just see a stray lowercase "p" where the editor should be. Happens consistently across…
I have been practicing ungrading the past year and have been working through the best combination of options in Canvas. I want my students to focus on learning and not points, so I have created custom grading schemes and trying to hide numbers from my students as much as possible. This includes selecting the option to…
There's a lot of edtech that promises results and not much that shows its work. We're collecting questions for an Educast 3000 podcast episode on how to tell the difference, and we'd like yours. What are your questions about evidence-based edtech? Ask us anything: how to read a vendor's efficacy claims, what…

This screenshot shows the problem I'm encountering everytime I try to view course videos on Canvas. Occassionally the videos can be played but most of time it's stuck on this status even after I sign in.

Parchment Digital Badges Community, Knowing that a skill is in demand is useful. But it is rarely enough. Imagine a learner exploring a skill like critical thinking, data analysis, or cybersecurity. Dear Parchment Digital Badges Community, Building a successful credential program is about more than issuing badges. Dear Parchment Digital Badges Community, A skill doesn't exist in isolation. The same skill can lead to very different opportunities depending on where you are in the world. Data analysis might be one of the fastest-growing skills in one market, while employers somewhere else are struggling to find cybersecurity talent.…
Identifying students who need extra support is one of the most important responsibilities of an institution, and it's also one of the hardest things to do early. By the time a student is clearly struggling, the window for meaningful intervention has often already closed. That's why we're introducing predictive insights in…
