notifications for students when they've successfully submitted an assignment?

Is there no notification available for students to confirm when they have successfully submitted an assignment? I am sure I've seen and experienced this before, and it seems like a no-brainer to implement, but I have searched our notification preferences and the page in the Kb about it and still have not found a way to do this.

I've seen videos explaining that a common student misunderstanding is when they upload the file to the holding area (and get a green checkbox), but don't follow through and actually click "Submit." If this is a common issue, surely there is a way for them to confirm successful submission.

If that's not an available notification, how have other admins adapted this deficiency to help students know when their submisions are successful?

Hi @KingswoodAdmin,

As a fellow Canvas admin, I don't know of a student notification for this either. If you have confetti enabled for your Canvas instance, I'd recommend telling the students to watch for the confetti animation when they do a submission (the confetti will appear only after fully submitting the assignment, not for just uploading the file, which is the most common mistake).

Hi ,

Submissions are saved under "files" on your personal information section on canvas. Also, there is a section that states submissions, and everything submitted shows up. The confetti does show after uploading and submitting an assignment. It is a useful tool.

Does you have Assignment Enhancements turned on? While they don't give students a notification, it does make it easy to check that assignments have been successfully submitted. I believe there are a few submission types this may not work for, but it might be a start to get you where you need to go.

When teachers set prerequisites for all assignments, students can see what they have completed in each module and what they have not submitted.

While Canvas doesn't display a specific pop-up upon submission (aside from the confetti for on-time turn-ins), students can always verify their status on the Assignment Details page. Here are a few guides that might be helpful to share with them:
