Ready to move your course? Review the guide that walks you through exporting course content, grades, and student work, then bringing it into Canvas Lite.
HUGE THANK YOU to Canvas Lite team members and community coaches who've answered our questions (including @Noah, @Chris @JeffCampbell, @Katie, @Dianna, @Kristin Lundstrum, and more) plus the decision makers who decided to go this way. Sure, I have some trauma from this past spring and over the summer through last week (who…
With the shift to Canvas Lite officially underway, moving your students over to new course spaces can take a little transition time. Here is a quick guide to getting your students enrolled and settled in smoothly so everyone can hit the ground running. Steps for Teachers Unlike in the former Free for Teacher Canvas…
Canvas Lite is (almost) here, and we know many of you are eager to dive in, set up your courses, and import your existing course export packages. As you prepare for the transition, here is a key detail to keep in mind: like Canvas Free-for-teacher, Canvas Lite has a 500MB storage limit. Course content can add up quickly,…
To the Canvas Lite Team, I am writing to express my serious concern regarding the maximum course participant limit in the new Canvas Lite, particularly the restriction that appears to allow only 50 users to join a single course. I am an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), Tanzania, teaching Civil…
I'll keep it short. Thank you for bringing our courses back to life through Canvas Lite. You didn't have to, but you did, and still for free! Thanks a million.
After testing Canvas Lite for a day, I can see that the course and participant limits are going to be a problem for the way we organize our courses. Everything else that Canvas Lite offers appears to meet our needs apart from the maximum of 5 published courses at one time. Even the 500MB storage and 50 students per course…
When sending a course url link to students, it won't prompt them to create a password, so if they log out before finishing, they will be unable to get back in. The workaround I found is that once they accept the invite, they will still appear as users under the "People" tab — and as a Teacher, you'll be able to click the 3…
Nowhere in the registration does CanvasLite ask students for their emails, but I have a student who forgot their password and cannot sign in. He tried to click the forgot password link, it asked him for his email, and then it says it sent the reset link, but since he never had to enter his email when registering for…
I am not seeing an option to upload a profile image in Canvas Lite. I am wondering if this feature will be added so that students have this option.
I have created a module and published it. When I go to the student view to make sure it is showing I want for students, it shows "No modules have been defined for this course," even though both the modules and the items within the modules are published. Is there a way to fix this?

Since we launched Canvas Portfolios last year, four pieces of feedback came through front and center. Bringing an assignment into a portfolio meant syncing it from Canvas: a linked reference, not evidence of its own. The Rich Content Editor held only plain text and files, with no room for a video, a board, or anything…
Dear Parchment Digital Badges Community, Badge creators know what their credentials represent. But finding the right skill within a large taxonomy can still require trying several keywords, comparing similar results, and knowing the terminology used by the taxonomy. A badge may clearly describe a learner’s capabilities…
