Parchment Digital Badges Community,
Knowing that a skill is in demand is useful. But it is rarely enough.
Imagine a learner exploring a skill like critical thinking, data analysis, or cybersecurity. They may be able to see that employers are hiring for it, which companies mention it, and where related jobs are available.
But the questions that shape real decisions go deeper.
- Are there enough qualified candidates to meet demand?
- What do roles requiring this skill typically pay?
- Which other skills and qualifications do employers expect?
- And does the answer change depending on where the learner lives or wants to work?
With this release, Parchment Digital Badges answers those questions. The enhanced Skill Details experience now provides deeper TalentNeuron labor market intelligence, including hiring difficulty, talent supply, salary insights, and related skills and qualifications, helping learners better understand the real-world value of their skills.
We're also expanding TalentNeuron coverage from 56 to 142 countries and territories, making these locally relevant labor market insights available across a much broader range of global markets.
What's New
Understand the value and competitiveness of a skill
The updated Skill Details experience introduces new market intelligence that helps users interpret the conditions surrounding a skill.
Users can now explore:
- Hiring difficulty
- Supply and demand ratio
- Salary range
- Typical job posting duration
- Related skills
- Related certifications and licenses
- Gender representation
- Estimated demographic representation, where supported
These insights build on the labor market information already available in Parchment Digital Badges, including skill popularity, top employers, job titles, locations, and live job postings.
Together, they provide a more complete picture of the opportunity behind a skill.
A skill may appear in thousands of job postings, for example, but a large available talent pool could mean that competition remains high. Another skill may appear less frequently but be associated with longer posting durations and greater hiring difficulty, suggesting employers are struggling to find qualified candidates.
The new experience helps users see that difference.
Explore a clearer Skill Details experience
The Skill Details page has also been reorganized to make the expanded information easier to understand.
Instead of presenting a collection of separate panels, the page now groups insights into three connected sections:
Skill ecosystem
Shows where the skill sits within the broader taxonomy, along with related skills and qualifications employers commonly request.
Market insights
Shows how competitive and valuable the skill is through supply and demand, hiring difficulty, salary, and demand trends.
Market presence
Shows where the skill appears across employers, job titles, locations, and current job opportunities.
The existing Market Labor Insights tab and country selector remain in place. Users gain a richer experience without needing to learn a new navigation model.
See deeper insight for specific job titles
The Job Title experience is also expanding.
Previously, users could explore demand trends and live job postings for a selected role. The updated page adds context about the value, requirements, and available workforce associated with that role.
Users can now see:
- Supply and demand for the job title
- Hiring difficulty
- Estimated salary range
- Typical job posting duration
- Skills employers request most often
- Related certifications and licenses
- Gender representation
- Estimated demographic representation, where available
This makes it easier to understand not only whether employers are hiring for a role, but also what they are looking for and how competitive the market may be.
Add local talent context to Location pages
Location pages will now include gender representation for the available local talent pool.
Users can continue exploring live job postings in a selected location, while gaining additional context about the workforce associated with that skill in the area.
This information is based on aggregated TalentNeuron market data and does not represent Parchment Digital Badges users or credential recipients.
Expand market coverage to 142 countries and territories
This release also significantly expands the markets available through the existing country selector.
TalentNeuron labor market insights will now support 142 countries and territories across Europe, Latin America, North America, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and the Caribbean.
The expanded coverage includes markets such as Egypt, Ukraine, Morocco, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Jamaica, Ghana, Qatar, Greece, Croatia, and many more. Please see our latest release note for the supported countries.
Organization administrators can continue to select a default country in the Skill Library section of Organization Settings. Individual users can temporarily explore another supported market directly from the Skill Details page without changing the organization default.
The interaction remains the same. The range of available perspectives becomes much broader.
Why It Matters
Skills do not carry one universal value.
Their relevance is shaped by the labor market around them. A credential may demonstrate that a learner has developed a capability, but understanding the opportunity attached to that capability requires more context.
- Is the skill scarce?
- Are employers struggling to recruit it?
- Which additional skills make it more valuable?
- What qualifications are commonly mentioned alongside it?
- How does the opportunity differ between countries, roles, and locations?
The expanded TalentNeuron experience helps learners explore those questions while giving institutions richer information to support program design, career-connected learning, and workforce alignment.
For learners, this can create a clearer link between what they have achieved and where that achievement may lead.
For institutions, it can provide additional signals when evaluating curricula, badges, pathways, and credential requirements.
For workforce and continuing education programs, it can help reveal where training may address meaningful talent shortages or difficult-to-fill roles.
And for globally distributed organizations, the expanded country coverage means those decisions can be informed by labor market conditions that are more relevant to the communities they serve.
Understanding the Data
TalentNeuron insights are based on aggregated and modelled labor market information.
They are designed to provide context, not guarantees. Salary information does not predict what an individual learner will earn. Hiring difficulty does not determine whether a particular person will be hired. Related skills and qualifications reflect patterns in employer demand, not required learning pathways or product recommendations.
Coverage may also vary by country, skill, job title, location, and data point. When sufficient information is unavailable, some sections may display an empty state.
Gender and demographic information describes the estimated available talent pool in the broader market. It does not describe learners, badge earners, or users within Parchment Digital Badges.
Estimated demographic representation is only shown in markets where the underlying data and classifications are supported.

A skill tells us what someone can do.Market intelligence helps us understand where that capability is needed, what employers value alongside it, and what opportunities may come next.
We are excited to bring that richer context to more learners, institutions, and markets around the world.
Happy exploring,
The Parchment Digital Badges Team
