We know back-to-school is one of the busiest times of year for your team. You're welcoming students and instructors back, building out courses, and getting a new term off the ground, all while counting on the technology behind it to stay steady. Because this matters to you, it matters to us.
So here's what we're doing to support you: from August 18 through October 7th, we're slowing down code deploys and releases for Canvas.
Why we're doing this.
You've shared that a new academic year already brings enough change on its own. Every product update we introduce in Canvas during this window means more work for your team: more documentation to update, more users to prepare, more time spent explaining what's different.
So we're giving you one less thing to manage. Fewer changes during your busiest weeks means your team can focus its energy where it matters most: helping students and educators start the term strong. It also means our teams can concentrate on reliability and performance when you need it most.
Innovation matters, but so does timing.
We're not stepping back from building new things for Canvas, but we know that when we build matters as much as what we build. This pause reflects that, and is a direct response to what you've told us.
Here's the timeline.
Through this, our focus stays on one thing: helping you have a stable, successful start to the school year. We’ll see you in class — happy learning!
