Discussion Checkpoints

Question

Faculty are wondering if they can make individual motifications from the Gradebook setting rather than having to go to the Discussions themselves to open up and recompute scores. We find where it adjusts for all students in mass but it would be nice to have that feature independently as faculty go to Gradebook to get an overall feel for student submissions and then start to grade from there. Going to the modules assignments individually is not how they normally think to grade.

Can that be a feature upgrade?

Yes, you can usually change it there, but not when it's grayed out. You have to go to the original discussion and change it there. This is when you use the discussion checkpoints, where you grade on initial post and then give them a few days to respond and then it grades those posts.

I am trying to visualize what you are trying to do.

Please check out in the How do I enter and edit grades in the Gradebook? guide. In that guide and is a "Enter Grade via Grade Detail Tray" section. In that section, it is possible to go directly to the student's SpeedGrader (which would include their discussion replies, both initial and to others) page if you click on the "SpeedGrader" button that appears in the grade detail tray.
