As I understand it now, if I import an old Canvas course into a shell, all the Announcements come with it, which doesn't make much sense. So I could see three ways to improve it, from worse to better:
- Don't make importing Announcements the default.
- Make some sort of "Select All" or "Delete All" in Announcements
- Import the Announcements, but make them hidden in some way and allow us to edit then unhide them, thereby sending the Announcement.
I do like to reuse/modify announcements from previous iterations of a course, and my workflow now is:
- Import an old course into a shell
- Go into Announcements, click on every Announcement, then Delete them. Sometimes there are multiple pages of Announcements so I have to do this with every page.
- When I want an old Announcement, go back to my previous offering of the course, find the Announcement, cut and paste it into the new course, modify as needed, and post it.
None of that is efficient…
Maybe there's an easier way to do this, but I've been using this for 5+ years and have never figured it out…
