Students not receiving course invite

Hello!

I added 53 students to a course, and none of them have received the course invite via email. I added them/the invite was sent out on Tuesday, Jan 20th, and when I went to check the next day, it still said 53 pending, which I found weird since at least one or two people would have accepted it and logged on. And since then, 2 people have reached out saying they never got the email invite, and I double checked I have the right email in Canvas. And still there are 53 pending invites. I have removed and re-added both of them, but still nothing. I have been able to invite my instructors with no issue. Also, these students are coming from a school abroad, but we've never had issues with adding them to our courses in the past. Any insight as to what the issue could be?

It sounds like you have followed the steps in the How to add users to a course.

Although you have added users like this before, have you reached out to your Canvas Admin to check if they have changed any of the settings such as Open Registration? If this is not enabled, only those who already have a Canvas account can access the course.

Some of the other standard things to check are that the course is published and the commencement date is current as well.

Another option is to ask them to check their spam or junk emails to see if the invite has been sent out there.

I stumbled upon a similar issue yesterday but it was because the students did not have official "school email" accounts. The invitations were going to their personal email accounts. (You said you checked the emails, so this most likely does not apply to you.)
