Peer Review Assignment – Unable to Use Test Student Submission :-(

Hello,

I have a number of assignments that require students to complete peer reviews. Because my course is self-paced and students are progressing at different rates, I created completed sample submissions using the Test Student account so that students would always have a submission available to review.

However, when I go to manually assign peer reviewers, the submission from Test Student does not appear as an available submission to assign. 😫

Is there a way to make a Test Student submission available for peer review assignments? If not, what is the recommended method for providing sample submissions that students can peer review when there are not enough student submissions available?

Would it be better to create a separate "sample submission" assignment, use Student View differently, or create a dummy student account for this purpose?

I do not believe that what you are trying to do is natively possible but you are on the right path with what you suggested.

I believe you would need to create a "dummy student" for each student and use the submit on behalf of feature after each "real student" submits. You would also probably need to manually assign peer reviews.

Maybe someone else has a better option but that is what I think you would have to do.

I think Doug is correct. What I've done is use a separate dummy student user for the submission, etc., and even use two dummy students so I can make videos on the experience of submitting, doing peer reviews, etc.

I'm impressed @DrBonnie that you are using peer reviews in a self-paced class! I hope that the pending changes to peer review will make managing that easier for you.
