Hello, I am experiencing DocViewer behavior where an XLSX file containing a PNG image of a table is previewed as a selectable, copyable table. The table does not contain native Excel cells, and there isn't any other content in the file other than the image. It's a single embedded PNG image. So I am wondering if the…
Hi all, is there a way to automatically assign a grade (points, letter or C/NC) to a discussion when students write a response - I'm thinking a feature similar to the graded survey feature in the old quizzes? Thanks!
Hello, This may be a feature that many people wouldn't use, but it would help us a lot. Background We use the blueprints function heavily in our organization, which helps when we need quick fixes or larger updates to materials. Our programs, which tend to last months rather than days like our classes, include a lot of…
A few months ago, I associated several hundred courses to a blueprint course using the Canvas API. While all of the courses were successfully associated with the blueprint course, I have since discovered that only some of the newly associated courses synced with it. Consequently, most of the newly associated courses…
We use a default-term, self-enrolled course shell as a "Program Commons" so that students in all program courses can participate in open (non-graded) discussions, and for centralized document management… or at least that was the intent. I needed to make a revision to the student handbook, so I made a copy of the original…
What is the turnaround time for Ally to process a file? For example a 4 page word doc.
Hi everyone, I’m Olivia, and I’m excited to officially introduce myself as the Product Manager for IgniteAI Agent. Before joining Instructure, I spent several years as a PM at Microsoft, where I worked on bringing the power of AI into Excel for millions of users. My career has always lived at the intersection of complex…
I had an exam, which was a New Quiz, which had a lot of "fill in the blank" questions followed by 0-point essay questions. The 0-point questions were "show me your work", mainly so that I could verify veracity of the auto-graded answer in the prior question and assign partial-credit points as needed. E.g., if the student…
I don't understand how the system decides on the sorting for the TERM menu in Course Settings. Does anyone know how to make this sort sensibly? It isn't alphabetic, it isn't based on date the Term was created and it doesn't mirror the Admin page order. It also doesn't seem to use the SIS ID for Terms (though, these have…
Can the Batch Edit of Assignment be updated so you can filter by assignment catagory
I am currently teaching a high school Spanish course, and many of my assignments use the fill-in-the-blank question type in new quizzes. The problem that I'm encountering is when a question requires a special character, such as an accented vowel (examples include: á Ó or ü) or the special letter ñ (which is a different…
In all the years I've been using Canvas, I've never had it copy a course calendar correctly. It inevitably creates a huge traffic jam in the first three weeks of a class, and then leaves assignments off later in the term. It takes hours to fix this each term. It would be great if things could just transfer over---I don't…
ETA: never mind! I had done my "testing" in the wrong quiz, which was a Classic Quiz quiz. I just tried again in the correct (migrated) new quiz, and I see now that the "file upload" question type DOES show the image in SG! — I rarely use Canvas quizzes, but am teaching a new asynch class this semester. I want students to…
More control over grading and feedback is here! Rubric scores and comments can be released separately or together to give you full control over the timing of both feedback and grades. Try it out in Beta now or in Production. Why we built this Feedback is one of the most powerful tools for student learning, but timing…
I log into parchment.com and it asks me for $15 for a certificate? I just want to find the badges I earned and put them on linked in. I see nothing aout badges in the parchment. Thanks

In the "How do I use the Learning Mastery Gradebook" page, under "Student scores" (https://community.instructure.com/en/kb/articles/660932-how-do-i-use-the-learning-mastery-gradebook-to-view-outcome-results-in-a-course#view-student-scores), the displayed gradebook shows a little colorful square and also points for each…
Hello, I'm trying to utilize an API call to pull completed certificates and was hoping to download and store the certs as a backup. I can successfully run the API call but it will not allow me to view the certificate unless I access the URL while signed into an account where it's "my" cert. Is there a permissions setting…
In Classic Quizzes, it is possible to display question-level feedback to students without manually grading an essay question on a quiz. Can this be enabled in New Quizzes? Use Case: This feature is vital for practice quizzes that include essay questions along with other question types. We mix essay questions with other…
https://api.badges.parchment.com/v2/users/{idOrEntityId} Hi. What type of ID should I be using to get the badges and pathway progress for a particular user? I have used all the SIS ID, or the ID as shown on the badger portal, but nothing is working. What kind of the ID does the API calls accept? please give an example.

Our "Outcomes" has not been working for about 6 months. Teachers can't build and attach Outcomes to new quizzes. Canvas said it was a rollover issue. Canvas won't fix it unless we pay them $2000 to "re-train" us for 10 hours. Has anyone had this problem and did it get fixed?
