Confirm? Online Attendance report in course analytics doesn't include any mobile activity

The documentation says: Online Attendance does not support mobile-specific activity tracking—attendance events must occur in a browser environment.

We are not interested at this time on mobile-specific activity, but it appears this means that no activity in a mobile app is recorded at all. Is that right? Our students tend to use mobile devices quite a bit, so perhaps this Online Attendance report will not be so useful.

We were looking for a way to look at daily rather than weekly activity, and I found a way to do that with the course activity report but it requires some Excel capabilities to make it useful. Complicated.

Canvas activity in a mobile browser is tracked as any other browser activity is, but you are correct that Canvas Students App activity (i.e. page views in the app) is not.

It's my understanding that this is because the mobile app is essentially an API interface, so the same would be true if (for some reason) a student were doing all of their interactions directly through the API 🙃
