Surface Laptop and Pencil function - not user friendly

Question

Can something be done about the web version of the "document marking" tool? I use this feature to make comments on student papers. It groups all the markings together. It also won't let me erase just one thing (eraser function on my sim pen won't work) … I have to delete the whole comment (may have 5-7 pieces of comments in it) then redo it all. It's not efficient.

Unfortunately, that's not very helpful! I know it's a workaround, but I shouldn't have to go through more work to grade assignments that should be able to be done using the functionality of the platform. I would hope that there would be a fix to the issue rather than having faculty find creative ways to do their jobs in a more straight-forward way.

I also have difficulty using the markup in SpeedGrader on a Surface. My work-around has been to use the options to bulk download the submissions, mark them up outside of Canvas, and then re-upload them as feedback files. It can be a bit of acrobatics to enter the score, rubric, and/or assignment comments in Canvas while marking up in Word, Acrobat, etc., so I usually also set the assignment to hide the grades until after my re-upload of feedback files.
