Rubrics for Outcomes

Question

We have a professor at our university who has to use rubrics to score assignments on course outcomes. These outcomes and rubrics are not used for the student grades, and they are not marked to be included. He has checked the box "Hide rubric score total from students" which led us to believe that the students would not see the rubric grades at all. However, it appears that students will be able to see the rubric scores. Is there a way to hide the outcome rubrics, especially since they aren't used for grading purposes?

By design, Canvas Rubrics will show the Canvas Outcomes that are attached to the rubric. If your institution wants to prevent those Outcomes from displaying in the rubric, that will require some customized code at the root account level to suppress those components from student view only.

In my use, having the Outcomes in the rubric (with Use this criterion for scoring left unchecked) is a great way to give feedback to the learner with additional comments regarding that score. However, the additional comments only show in rubric view and do not display in the Student Mastery Learning Gradebook (if enabled) where they can see all of their outcome scoring for all the rubrics (assignments) to which they are attached.

If the prof wants students to ignore the Outcome scoring, he can include a comment like "Score for diagnostic purposes only." or "Disregard outcome score." and save that comment for re-use.
