Disable seeing average mark in SpeedGrader

Question

I'm pretty sure this isn't currently possible, so I am asking for a feature request for future.

My colleagues would like to request for the ability to hide the SpeedGrader average for markers. There is concern that seeing the average might skew how markers mark assignements, e.g.  they might be overly generous or stricter depending on the current average. Having the ability to hide this would help

@ELee I think that is a valid concern and this is a good idea. I know they have been working on updating the SpeedGrader, so, maybe this is something they could fold into the upgrades. You can submit this as an idea in the

Hello @ELee  - I just reviewed the Grader Course Role Permission options, and I am not seeing the ability to disable the average score from being presented at the top right of the SpeedGrader view.

Your options include:

* Submit an idea via: Canvas Collaborative Roadmap - Instructure Community For example: This idea proposes providing institutions with an option to disable or control grader visibility of the assignment average currently displayed at the top of the SpeedGrader interface. While the average score can offer useful context, it may unintentionally influence grading decisions by anchoring evaluators toward the mean, which can reduce scoring independence and introduce bias. To support more objective assessment practices, institutions should be able to restrict this feature through a permission setting. One practical approach would be to tie visibility of the average score to an existing permission such as View Analytics, allowing only designated roles to access aggregate performance data while keeping graders focused solely on rubric criteria and individual student work during evaluation. This added control would align with best practices in assessment integrity and give administrators flexibility to match grading workflows to institutional policy.
* Ask your IT team to see if they are able and willing to apply CSS to hide the item for the Grader course role. Note: I typically decline requests asking to customize anything to do with the grading interface. When making such customizations one becomes responsible for testing every time the code changes. 
* Ask your Grader to install a browser extension such as uBlock Origin Lite. This can be used by the grader to select and filter the element, so it does not load onto the page.  For example -
