I just got this message from a teacher at my school, running a final through Canvas using Lockdown Browser. Was wondering if anyone else has seen an experience like this?
I noticed a student during finals today who would constantly darken his screen, then rebrighten it. Watching him closely, a large black popup appeared on the lower right of his screen which prompted him to darken it, he'd type something, then it would disappear and he would brighten his screen then make a selection on his test. After watching him do this a few times, I called him out and asked him to explain the popup. He was clearly nervous and didn't have a very good answer ("It's just... something... it happens... sometimes..."). I asked him to show me, and he couldn't (wouldn't), so I told him I was going to sit next to him for the rest of the exam. Unfortunately, my attention kept getting diverted and he tried it at least one more time. I also noticed that he got kicked from LDB at least 3 times during the exam, and the last time it happened, he darkened his screen before opening up (what I can only assume is) a special version of LDB with some kind of ability to fool Canvas into thinking it's legit (for a while).
