Teachers have found that they have to view each student's posts in speedgrader to find those that need scoring, not a good workflow. One teacher had 0s automatically applied for missing assignments, which applied only to the required replies score and that's what's in the gradebook. A student posted an initial response a day after it was due (before required replies due date). After the required replies due date, in the student dropdown list there was a green checkmark indicating the student had already been graded, but the initial response needs a score, it's blank with a 0 applied to required replies. Also, there isn't a needs grading icon for a student with that initial response, it is colored as missing with 0 score.
Not good for teachers - I think Instructure is going to work on this but wondered if any other teachers had this experience.
The algorithm for Checkpoints is sure difficult, two due dates, two separate scores that get combined in the gradebook. Throw in missing/late policies and it's worse!
