automatic points deduction for for DIFFERENT assignment point values in one class

I feel like the math is not mathing:

I am running a class that has 100 points possible. I want to make each assignment, no matter how many points it is worth, to have a 'late fee' of 2 points deducted. Because I have to deduct via percentange instead of points. and because I can only specify one deduct calculation per class/gradebook, how am I supposed to account for a 10-point assignment being late AND a 25-point assignment being late?

Maybe I am the one not "mathing"…? Is there something simple I am overlooking?

(Also I really want the late fee to only affect weekdays, but that feels like a bridge too far.)

Hi @DRectorRedux ,

I don't think Canvas has the capability to do what you are asking. Its late policy is based on a percentage, which doesn't suit your needs. For you, it might make more sense to just use the late flag to draw your attention to late submissions and then apply the deduction manually.

Would applying a late submission policy solve what you're looking to do? Late submission policies allow an instructor to set a late submission percentage, a deduction interval, and the lowest possible grade. To learn more, check out How do I apply a Late Submission policy in the Gradebook?
