Has anyone run into issues with Speedgrader erroring when opening a student submission from a dropbox? See image for error information. I accessed this directly through the gradebook and instructors are getting the same message.
As someone who has used the gradebook for years, I've never seen that. (Doesn't help you, I know; sorry.) Have you refreshed? Are you using a chrome browser? Are you sure the course is published? Maybe digging into this a little more can help get to the bottom of this.
Yes, we are seeing that error, too, on some assignments, not all. The same assignment is in different courses. Some courses show this error, others work fine. Cannot figure it out. Nothing has changed on our end.
I'm wondering if a ticket would be useful. But it is so random. Fortunately, I've only heard it from a single course. I've tried copy the course to an empty one and am considering seeing if we should just wipe the existing one and place the copy in and see if that works. I'd hate to lose work though since courses have started. Are you able to try that without affecting grades?
Hello @efudge,
Have you reported this to Support? If you have, what have they said?

Thanks for the reply! I've tried multiple browsers and cleared cache/cookies just for the heck of it and I was able to replicate the instructors view; received same message. The course is published and like you, this is the first time I have ever seen this occur having used Canvas for years. And what's really odd is it has occurred in just this one course from my knowledge and it is random with multiple dropboxes only. My best guess is something got "whacked" out in the database. The current solution is to re-create these assignments but curious if anyone else has seen this message.
Normally I would but in this case, it was just 6 assignments in a single course. Once those were re-done, everything has worked and no repeat issues in any other course. I was hoping it was not a trend. If you have gotten this message with some random assignments, it might not be bad to approach a ticket and reference this post or add me to the notes and I can add to it.
I did a course copy and tested and that seemed to fix the issue if you wanted to try on your end with the course(s) that are affected.
Check the assignment and make sure the box is UNCHECKED that says "doesn't count toward grade". I discovered that is the issue on my end.
The Non Credit side of our institution has users self enroll in their course, they want us to run a script daily that ends any new enrollments access after 30 days. I found this end point for user enrollment end time, but in my testing, the user still had access despite their enrollment being past the end date. Do the…
I am a Canvas administrator for a series of courses for my institution. I pull a weekly attendance report for students across all classes in our catalogue. This week, I am encountering an error message when attempting to access the roll call attendance report function ("We're sorry, but something went wrong"). Switching…
Hi everyone, We’ve recently received a couple of reports from faculty about a sudden influx of emails from Studio Support indicating that “automated captions are ready to view”, but for videos that are quite old and haven’t been updated recently. These faculty are reporting 5 or more of these emails today so far. In at…
My team is currently going through the different LTIs/APIs we have installed in our Canvas instance and making sure we have a full list of what permissions each one has, what information it gives/receives, etc. However, the list of LTIs/APIs is contradictory - the new Apps page has a Monitor tab which lists launches of…
Has anyone else had issues with an influx of duplicate users in Canvas? Ours is currently in the form of an email that already exists, becoming a new user - and not automatically merging with the user ID with the same email that also is linked to our SIS ID correctly as well. For example, user 1 is xyz@gmail.com without a…
