One of our faculty accidentally deleted an assignment. I restored it by using the "undelete" option, but grades that had been manually assigned have disappeared. Is there a way to restore those grades?
@GuidoReverdito If the grades were entered before Saturday, you could try going into your Beta instance of Canvas, exporting the Gradebook, editing the file to only include the assignment in question, and then importing the grades back into the production instance of the course.
James, ciao and thanks for your quick response. Disgracefully enough, the story of the course in which the grades were accidentally deleted is sort of peculiar: the first six weeks there was one faculty to teach it. He was the one who graded the Oral Presentations which were one of the graded Assignments of the course. Then he suddenly left and another one took over who accidentally deleted the Oral Presentations Assignment. I restored it, but grades had disappeared. The first faculty is now not reachable, and that is why I was trying to recover the lost grades.
Have you tried checking the Grade History to see if there are records for that assignment now that it is restored? How do I view the history of all grading changes in the Gradebook?
Based on what you described, unless the Oral Presentation assignment was graded by the prior teacher this week, you could potentially see the grades on the Beta instance of your Canvas site as @james_whalley suggested. How do I access the Canvas beta environment as an instructor?
For this option to work, it is important that you check before Saturday when the Beta instance resets to match the current version of the production site.
Hello, I am using checkpoint discussions. When I see that I have some submissions in my To Do list to grade, I click on it, go into Speedgrader, and now have to search to see which students have posted or not. It used to designate which students had posts to grade so it was easy to just go to those students. Something has…
I'm not sure that this is the right place to post about this, but I was wondering if anyone has a fix for how the scroll bar for the entire page covers the scroll bar for just a document viewed in Canvas. The scroll bar for a document will stay visible until one attempts to interact with it, at which point the bar for the…
Hi There, We are in the process of transitioning to Canvas this year and were wanting to connect with any other MYP schools to see how you setup Assignment and grading under your modules. Or you could guide us to any resources you may have.
After using Canvas for a while, I picked up a small habit that’s saved me some last-minute stress with written submissions. Even when drafts are original, longer explanations and summaries tend to reuse common phrasing, especially in research-heavy assignments. Before submitting, I usually do a quick cleanup pass to reduce…
In the "How do I use the Learning Mastery Gradebook" page, under "Student scores" (https://community.instructure.com/en/kb/articles/660932-how-do-i-use-the-learning-mastery-gradebook-to-view-outcome-results-in-a-course#view-student-scores), the displayed gradebook shows a little colorful square and also points for each…
