Question

I am trying to add my 2nd child to my account to observe.  I have generated a code from his account but every time I enter it into my account it says "Invalid Pairing Code". I have tried generating new codes and still get the same Invalid.  Who can I contact for help?

Hello, Jennifer,

You'll be able to add another student to your already-existing Canvas Observer account which you use in the browser and in Canvas Parent. From a browser (not the app at this time!), sign in to your account. Then click Account, then Settings, then Observing. On this screen, you'll see a +Student button. Just above that button, there will be a space in which you can enter your pairing code. Once a student's account is linked to yours, their name will be added to the list under "Observing". (How do I link a student to my user account as an observer?‌)

If you are leveraging the desktop, this should get you there. If you are still having issues, I would contact the institution where your children attend!

In addition to the information Kylie provided, which I strongly encourage you to follow, are you by chance trying to add your child from the mobile app, or from the desktop? I wonder if there's a device-specific issue happening?

I also recommend checking out this guide here, just to ensure you're doing the right steps! You'd need to do this from your child's account. How do I generate a pairing code for an observer as a student?

If for some reason this still isn't working, your school's Canvas admin is also able to generate codes and link you to your child, just as Kylie mentioned. I'd recommend reaching out to them directly for assistance.
