What does the Google Gemini LTI actually do?

Hi all,

I've enabled the Google Gemini LTI in our Canvas test instance according the setup instructions here - https://support.google.com/edu/assignments/answer/15672747?hl=en#turn-on-gemini&zippy=%2Cturn-on-gemini-lti-as-an-authorized-external-tool

I have the ability to add Gemini to the course navigation, but when I actually access it, all it seems to do is open up a new browser tab and redirect me to the regular Google Gemini web page. Is there anything else to it? There seems to be a total lack of any real, useful descriptions as to how it is meant to work and what you are meant to be able to accomplish with it.

Hi @PaulBenham ,

I've been messing around with the Gemini app, too, and have been receiving the same behavior. I think this was installed just as a shortcut to get to the main gemini app. It probably isn't fully integrated into Canvas like most would think it is because to access Gemini, a google account is required, and not all Canvas users have access to a google account. However, I could be wrong!
