Grade Notifications

Does anyone know if it's possible to set up a notification or alert trigger for a student when his or her grade falls below a certain percentage in a class? I know there are ways to target send messages to specific students in a given assignment, but this would be if the overall grade in a class fell below a certain mark, the student would get an alert. For example, Johnny was doing OK, but then after a few missed homeworks, his overall grade in history dropped below 70%, so he gets a notification stating just that.

I don't think there is anything like that build directly into Canvas right now.  There are some third-party integrations that might provide functionality similar to what you're looking for here, though most of them would have additional costs associated.  Partner Listing: AspirEDU, Inc. comes to mind here, but I have never used their product to know if it has this functionality.
