Latex Rendering Glitch

Question

Has anyone experienced a Latex rendering issue since the outage? For example, $\times10^{12}$ should display scientific notation, and $\mu C$ should display uC, where "u" is the Greek letter mu. In my assignments, the code is not rendering. Did Canvas do something to MathJax during the outage? Is this a known issue? Will this be fixed? I have 100s of questions that use this, so this could be a potential nightmare.

I've tried the most recent versions of Chrome and Firefox and cleared the cache/browser. I've tried on multiple devices, i.e., Desktop computer running Win11, Android tablet, and phone. I've viewed in Preview mode and edit, but I still see the code.

We are noticing the same error. Specifically, it seems to affect equations that were created in New Quizzes with the older version of the equation editor, which originally displayed the code in the RCE and only rendered when the question was saved. Now it is displaying the code in the RCE but not rendering it at any point.

Updating every instance one at a time would be a nightmare involving hours if not days of work.

We are also experiencing this behavior, I agree, suggesting each equation be touched and modified is unacceptable.

I noticed this, too, but this is unacceptable! I have thousands of problems across 14 different course shells: homework assignments, quizzes, exams, labs, and possibly in some announcements. This is an enormous amount of work, which entails having to go through EVERY assignment, and EVERY problem.

Furthermore, each time you edit a problem, I've noticed that Canvas is resetting decimal rules to 0 places, so that information needs to be re-ascertained for formula problems and then reset to the proper tolerance. Canvas does this for assignments migrated from quizzes to new quizzes, too, something they never fixed.

In what sphere could this possibly be considered sane? And if they can't fix this, how can we be sure it won't happen again? And what alternative do we have? This literally makes this platform useless to math and science faculty, except for mundane, simple tasks.
