I have a quiz set for 2 hours and its availability window set for 2.5 hours. During the exam I receive the warning message as follows:
- Please note that the adjusted time limit you've set extends beyond the "Until Time" of [Apr 16, 2026, 11:30 AM] for this quiz. The quiz will automatically submit at the "Until Time" you've set. To prevent this from happening, either increase the "Until Time" on the Assignment Details page or reduce the adjusted time limit here.
first of all, I have confirmed that there are no overlooked student moderations—the most common cause. After that I checked all related settings—all is well. I checked time zone settings for the course and account—no issues.
I tested for a time zone issue by increasing the window by 1 hour and the notification disappeared. So, the math responsible for triggering the notification is not considering the time zone offset. that being said, the math responsible for closing the quiz automatically at the end of the availability window is considering the time zone offset, because the quiz did not shut down according to the warning.
So it's working as expected, but the warning is popping up unnecessarily. So, I guess my question is… Did you know? ;)
