I have Canvas set to drop the lowest quiz score, however, my students can only barely tell that the grade text is slightly grey when dropped. Can it have a tag like the "missing" and "exempt" ones in the student gradebook?

We've had students encounter this at my institution, and I've been hoping for the same fix you suggested (having tags). I haven't heard an update on that request for a while though. Since the background being used right now certainly doesn't meet accessibility standards for contrast, maybe we should report it to support_a11y@instructure.com with that context to see if that would result in a quicker fix.
