Read-only course role that can view all course content

Question

We have a need for a course role that is able to view all course content, published and unpublished, but not edit anything or see student data. For example, seeing a quiz that is unpublished or outside its availability date (so the default Observer role won't work), but not able to change settings or questions.

From what I can tell, the specific permission to view course content is only available at the account/admin level, which definitely won't work. I just want to confirm that I'm not overlooking something. Thanks!

Hi there @MorgenWM ,

At the account level, you can create a new course role (I'd base it off of TA) and edit it so it cannot manage course assignments, send announcements, view grades, etc. Despite you turning all those settings off, since you set the role based off of TA, it can still view published and unpublished content.

Does that make sense, or do you need some additional details?
