I had an exam, which was a New Quiz, which had a lot of "fill in the blank" questions followed by 0-point essay questions. The 0-point questions were "show me your work", mainly so that I could verify veracity of the auto-graded answer in the prior question and assign partial-credit points as needed. E.g., if the student got 0/5 on the auto-graded question, I have the option to assign, say, 2/0 points on the 0-point question to provide some partial credit back.
EXPECTATION: I only need to enter a grade on the 0-point questions where I choose to give partial credit. For the rest of the 0-point questions, there is no need for me to touch them.
THE PROBLEM: In new quizzes, every question that is not auto-graded must have an instructor-specified grade before the quiz grade shows in the gradebook. This means I had to plow through hundreds of 0-point questions and assign a 0-point grade to them. This is annoying, just a bunch of time-waste to affirm the obvious.
REQUEST: If I create a 0-point question, Canvas should auto-grade it to 0 points. I should never need to manually assign a grade to these questions.
