One of the more frustrating aspects of Canvas are groups and the issues that show up when copying courses that have them. But now we have yet another issue.
Most recently we have had instances where people mark an assignment/discussion as a group assignment but then do not link the discussion or assignment to any group sets (or groups do not even exist in the course). And as an added bonus, when you copy a course like this, Canvas automatically creates a group set when there was previously not one in the course.
Would Canvas be able to add a function where you cannot save an assignment or discussion with the group assignment/discussion option checked UNLESS it is actually linked to a group set (even better, only if the group set has groups)?
I fail to see why anyone would want a Group Discussion but then not link it to a group set. This has caused many issues for our instructors and would help save a lot of frustration in the future.
