Using the new portfolio function: Why do I get "Course assignment hidden for public share"..? The portfolio is published?
Thanks for that explanation. They got back to me right away with this information:
Our engineers are aware of this current limitation with showcase portfolios, and they are already working to release an improvement in a future update of the Portfolio tool. In the meantime, for an assignment to be shared publicly, the student needs to attach it to a Project, Extracurricular Activity, or Professional Experience. Our recommendation is to create a Project and add the course assignment as evidence within that project.
I am also curious about this. If I ask students to create a showcase portfolio for my class, it seems that sharing it via a link would be the best way to share it with me so that I could click on things within the portfolio. However, I can't click on the assignments they've added from my class. Why would a showcase portfolio be useful if the people students share the portfolio with can't access what's inside it?
We noticed this behavior as well and have reported it to the product team, but haven't gotten word of any change. This is a major blocker for our users, and is counter intuitive. Thanks for raising it here again!
Are there any updates on this issue? We have instructors who are interested in using Showcase Portfolio not Evaluation Portfolio as it seemed to be more similar to their experience with Portfolium. The fact that they cannot view student course assignments that are to be uploaded to the Portfolio as part of the assessment process is a big problem!
also would like an update on this
came to find the answer as well. A link is not useful if no one can see the evidence they share.
Is Canvas going to answer this question? My students are submitting showcase portfolios and I can't see the documents that they are uploading.
Hi @Barbara_Kehr6119,
The community forums here are mostly for peer (other Canvas users) to peer help. While there are some Instructure employees who post blogs, release notes, etc, the forums usually aren't a place to get a direct answer from Instructure. If you need a definitive answer, especially since nobody has responded to this question in a few months months, I'd suggest hat you contact Canvas support if that is an option at your school/institution.

Hello, I have a number of assignments that require students to complete peer reviews. Because my course is self-paced and students are progressing at different rates, I created completed sample submissions using the Test Student account so that students would always have a submission available to review. However, when I go…
Hi, I can't get this working right. I've created outcomes where the calculation method is to meet mastery twice. I've aligned them to several assignments. The grade book displays mastery as met when it's only been achieved on one of the assignments. It's not showing positive or negative for the other assignments. (I've…
Yesterday, after much trial and error…I concluded the new quizzes matching choice options do not work as I expected, and have used with other LMS. I thought that I could provide students a matching choice quiz with multiple attempts that would report incorrectly answered matches on the first attempt, and display the…
I have seen documentation that says you must recopy your iCal link and resubscribe when you are enrolled in new classes, does this mean my iCal feed link changes each time, or do i just need to re-fetch the .ics file?
We use course pacing to manage due dates, because we run ~20 something courses each quarter and manually setting due dates would be a nightmare. Several courses have two core topics. We want to allow students to choose which of these they will pursue first. Is there any way to configure multiple course paces with different…
