Discussion notification

1. Discussion - Sometimes a student has to correct their original post to a discussion thread and resubmit.  However, I receive no notifications on my To Do list of resubmitted posts to discussion threads.  I know Canvas can do an email notification, but that really does not work well for me.   I have had to tell students to email me if they have done a resubmission.  
2. Discussion - If I grade a student's discussion before they have responded to peers, I do not get notification in my To Do list when they eventually respond to peers.  

How can I get notifications to my To do list when a student has re-posted an original post or when a student replies to a peer after I have graded their original post?

I do so for a discussion topic I have set up for questions and answers.

ps. permit me to share my approach:

• I ask students to post an initial response and then reply to their peers. I use the first post requirement setting.
• I configure the discussions so that students cannot edit the posts. I do so as these are graded.
• If students need to make a correction, I suggest they do so as a reply to their original post.
• I grade the discussions after the due date has passed. 
• I disable the notifications for the discussions. That way my email is clean and orderly.
• I access the discussions using a web browser on a large screen as that minimizes scrolling. I also use the discussion topic read/ unread filters.
