A large number of my gradebook entries have been wiped away to zero (used speed grader if that helps) How can I revert back to a previous backup to recover these grades?

I don't think there is an auto-revert mechanism available, but you can view the gradebook history to see that the scores were before they were changed to 0 and manually type them back in to the gradebook.
