I'm developing some course for electronic engineering student who are doing a 2 year diploma.

Been asked if it is possible to create a quiz which the student will have to produce a series of formulas for, for example the answer to 1 of the questions is

So, do you know of a simple way, within a quiz, for the students to produce answers similar to the above and how would you go about setting up the quiz to self mark?

Appreciate any suggestions.

If you want students to solve the problem by hand and only submit the 4.5 as an answer, then a Numerical type question would work. Below are links on how to do those in Classic and New Quizzes

You can also make them with random numbers, through a formula question, so that the coefficients of the equation may be random:

To submit something like the image/formula you posted, you'd need to allow for an essay question so students have access to the Rich Content Editor, but those can't be automatically graded inside Canvas.

Perhaps there's an LTI for that using AI, but I'm not familiar with any option.
