Yes, if allowed by your student's institution, you can create an observer account and enter the pairing code (which can be found under the account settings on your student's account) to create an account and see how your student is participating in class.

As "Ideas" section is gone (at least for now), I'm posting a feature request here. Mobile app shows a list of students who have submitted or not submitted a quiz/assignment. Would be good to have this in web version as well as way to export csv.
