User interface not displaying correctly

Hello,

I'm working with a user who is having an issue with the UI displaying correctly. They have tried in both Chrome and Edge with the same result. Icons are not showing and the text is misaligned. We have cleared cache, updated the browser, reset the browser to default settings, checked for updates on the device, and run a full restart on the device. I've reached out to Canvas support but they haven't had any other solution as yet. Thank you for any ideas on how to resolve this!

Canvas Support helped to discover that this UI issue is caused by changing the contrast theme in the accessibility settings. To correct this behavior (on a Windows device) the user would go to Settings > Accessibility >Contrast Themes then make sure that "None" is selected from the drop down menu. Once "None" is selected and applied, the UI will revert back to normal.

Wow, I have never seen anything like this before! I strongly, strongly recommend submitting a help ticket with the Canvas technical support team. You can do this by clicking the Help link in your global navigation menu, and clicking report a problem.

If you do not have access to this link, I recommend notifying your Canvas administrator so they can assist with taking this to support.

Thanks for sharing that with us @JJPayne2277. It will be helpful for others in the future.

One more thing to keep in mind (for anyone else who might come across this in the future) when troubleshooting something similar—or even completely different—is whether the issue occurs with a different Windows user account on the same computer. In my experience, Windows themes and accessibility settings are usually specific to each user account.

If the visual experience continued or did not continue, that might help when troubleshooting.

Allow Observers to View Instructor Comments
It would be very beneficial for observers (parents) if they could view instructor comments. If they had access to this information, they could better understand the grading of individual assignments and better understand the errors that their student made.
