create Canvas page as a student

Question

Is it possible to create a canvas page as a student? I am trying to create a study group through canvas where students can post questions/answers.

Hello there, @Charlotte20 ...

Based on your question, are you a student?  If so, are you asking about creating a single page in one of your existing courses that you are taking to use as a study group?  If so, most of the time, instructors do not let students create additional pages in a course.  This is a permission setting within Canvas.  However, there are a couple other possible options that I can think of...

* Ask your instructor if he/she would be willing to create Groups within your course.  This is done via the "People" page of the course (which you may/may not see if you are a student).  Instructors can create what are called "Group Sets", and then within a Group Set, the instructor creates the Groups.  So, for example, an instructor might create a Group Set called "Study Groups".  Then, within the "Study Groups" Group Set, the instructor would create the various names of the study groups.  Maybe the instructor wants to create study group names of "Study Group A", "Study Group B", "Study Group C", and "Study Group D".  Finally, the instructor would assign student to each of these study groups.  You would then have a common place for you and your study group classmates to share files, participate in online discussions, etc.  Only people within your group set would see things that you share among each other.
* A second option is that groups can be set up by your school's Canvas administrator outside of any course.  So, think of this like a campus Club such as the Automotive Club or the Computer Science club.  Canvas administrators would have to know who to add to each of these groups.  These groups are not connected to any specific course.  But, you do get essentially the same kinds of features that you would get if your instructor had set up a group within one of your Canvas courses.
