I moved to a new district and am setting up my Canvas course. Previously we has access to example template pages that we could import into our course and fill out. Wondering if I can find something like that. I tried looking in commons but they are pretty basic.

The templates that you used to have access to were likely purchased by your school / school district from the product or design team at Instructure and was licensed for your institution's canvas instance specifically, and was generated in there. That being said, not all schools purchase course templates for their courses, so it can become more difficult to find the templates you're looking for on an instance that didn't purchase the template.

While Commons does have several course templates available created by other teachers, and I think there might be a couple from the official Instructure Design Services team available too (they released a couple last year for teacher appreciation week), there are also platforms such as Teachers Pay Teachers and Etsy that I know people post Canvas course templates on that they have created themself. However most of those probably require a purchase before you can download them.
