I am trying to locate a video that I once used for an assignment in New Quizzes. Unfortunately, I cannot locate the actual video file in my Google Drive and I believe that I deleted the original download. I have been able to locate the video in a quiz that a teacher created in a New Quizzes assignment from a previous course. Is there any way that I can download the video file? I know that I can export the quiz assignment, but that results as a .zip file and I am wondering if there's a way that I can isolate the .mp4 file. Thank you.
Hi @rpsimon,
I am not sure if you found an answer to this on your own or not. If I were in this situation, I would export the New Quiz, extract the contents of the ZIP file, and look at the code in as many files as possible in a plain-text editor like Notepad on Windows or (my preferred plain-text editor on macOS is the free version of) BBEdit.
In the plain-text editor you should be able to see links to artifacts in the code. The format of the links could vary depending on how they are formatted but you should be able to find the link.
Please give that a try and reply back letting us know how it goes.

To add just one more element to the answer @dbrace gave, this could depend on how exactly the videos are inserted into the quiz. If the videos were just uploaded to a files area, you may be able to get a download link for them. If they were inserted from an external video management system (Canvas Studio, Kaltura, Panapto, Mediasite, etc), there may intentionally be no way to download the videos directly from the quiz itself, though the creator of the videos should generally have access to download the videos from the video library of those systems. If the quiz was created by another teacher, that teacher may also need to share the videos separately in the external system if they wish to for other teachers to be able to download it.
I hope this extra info may also be helpful.

Our institution is setting up 9 institutional outcomes in Canvas. Several of our outcomes have multiple skill sets within the rubric. I am just curiousas to why there is not a field to enter a description for an outcome at the account level? Or at least edit the rating when you attach/link an account level outcome to a rubric. When you create a new criterion for a rubric, you enter a decription for a rating, but for an account level outcome.
We use a pre- post- model to measure learning which requires student-question matching from two time periods. This requires exporting quiz data to CSV to do the analysis properly. (I can get into more detail if needed.) The New Quizzes Student Analysis CSV export has repeated blocks of ItemID then columns related to that…
Hello! A caution to my fellow Admins and support folks that Instructure updated their live-chat link (the one in the "(?) Help" menu, if you license their Support Chat service) fairly recently, but the old broken one is still online and appears as if it still functions. If someone hits the old link, after entering their…
