How do I make an assignment visible to students? When I click on the icon it won't let me enable
Hi @MaggieLow ,You are able to make assignments visible by either going onto the assignment's page itself, and clicking 'Publish' in the top right hand corner, go to the assignments list in your course and click the crossed-out circle located on the right to make it published, or if the item is listed in a module, you can publish it the same way you would in the assignments list there, too.
I will provide a link to the guide regarding publishing and unpublishing assignments in your Canvas Course. I hope this helps you out! https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-publish-or-unpublish-an-assignment-as-an-instructor/ta-p/585
OR, when you mean icon, do you mean the 'Assignments' button on your course's side navigation? If that's the case, you will have to go your course Settings > Navigation and then drag and drop what buttons you'd like your students to see. I'll provide you with the link to that information too. Clicking on the icon won't make the button visible to students, it's just a picture telling you it's invisible to them as you likely have it disabled. https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-manage-Course-Navigation-links/ta-p/1020

Has anyone had a chance to try this with a Canvas quiz? Seems it may have a similar effect as ChatGPT Atlas able to provide all the answers to an open Quiz. https://www.theregister.com/2026/03/05/microsoft_adds_a_sidepane_for/
When you are creating a quiz and/or also reviewing a quiz in Canvas after the class has taken it, the questions aren't numbered so after you get past the first few questions, there is no way to even tell what number you are on. Can someone change that?
Speedgrader chaning file name when being downloaded. Speedgrader: When downloading a submitted assignment, the file name is being changed to an unrecognizable name — (Student's actual name was part of the file name — changed for privacy.) Ideas???
We are all familiar with the standard Course Calendar, where assignment due dates are automatically added. However, at my institution, we structure our assignments as Challenges that develop over a period of time, rather than just a single deadline. Currently, the calendar only highlights the "end point." It would be a…
