how do you add Powerpoints to Modules?
Hi @AngieSchwendau
Think of Modules as a "table of contents"--everything in Modules is a link to something that is actually stored somewhere else in the course. So, if you wanted to be able to access Powerpoint files from the Modules area, you would need to save the PowerPoints in the Files area, then add a link to each file in the Modules area.
Fortunately, it's possible to do that all in one step from the Modules area. See the instructions at https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-add-course-content-as-module-items/ta-p/1157
When I click on the "+" on the Module I go to "Add" and select "External Tool" on the drop-down, and then choose Office 365.
I keep my ppts in OneDrive so you would have to choose where you keep your powerpoint files.
Hi @AngieSchwendau ,
Did you get an answer that works for you? Your question really did not include enough detail for us to answer it well. What are you trying to do with the PowerPoint?
Is it a file for students to view, like lessons slides for review? Or do students need to be able to download the files to use on their own?
Does the PowerPoint contain any animations or other special effects, or will a PDF version of the slide show be sufficient? (That is, do you need it to operate as a fully functional PowerPoint file, or do users just need to view content?)
As @Chris_Hofer mentioned, you may (or may not) have an Office 365 integration with your Canvas instance. Do you know if that integration is available to you?
What version are your PowerPoint files? Are you using PPT 365? Have you set the files to "Publish to the Web" or are they native PPT files on your hard drive?
All of these questions are relevant for determining the best advice for posting your PowerPoint content in your Canvas course.
Also, just in case, are you referring to actual Microsoft PowerPoint files, or are you using "Powerpoints" generically for a slide show, such as Google Slides (which would be a different process)?
While typing an Announcement, sometimes midway, we need to check something for which we click on Grades or Assignments. Then when we return to Announcements, what we types simply disappears. It will be very helpful to have a DRAFT option under Announcements so that the unfinished message is not lost.
I have used Blackboard, Moodle, and now work at a Canvas university. When grading quiz items. I want the ability to view all of the students' responses to a single item at once. This could allow consistency in grading and speed up the grading process. This functionality has been available in Moodle for over 10 years.
I'm an instructional designer working with a faculty member who wants all of the students in the class to work in groups to complete a feedback form together, with contributions from each group member. The way the Canvas Collaborations instructions are written, I don't understand how to make this happen. Do we set up a…
Has anyone ever encountered this error in the Admin Analytics Student section?
My class policy is that late assignments can be accepted at professor discretion, but they will have a 50% penalty. This is a gate you pass through once, and there are no further penalties. If it's late, you simply get 50% deducted from whatever the score was. This happens regardless of whether it's 5 hours late or 5 weeks…
