Let students choose (A→B) ~OR~ (B→A) project ordering, where each project has many assignments over half the term? Compatible with Course Pacing?

A and B are each actually areas of the workshop with a different emphasis. Having the students split between areas makes equipment access easier.

How do I allow students to choose between working in area A for the first half of the term, then area B for the second half of the term, or the opposite, while using Course Pacing for due-date management?

It must be possible, right?

@RM-BhamTech Are the pacing for the assignments in A and B the same? If so, you could have assignments in Canvas that are devoid of detail and instead put the full details on Canvas pages.

What I mean is, if I choose A and the first assignment is due September 21 and my classmate chooses B and their first assignment is also due September 21, then I could actually build a single assignment for both. In the description area of that assignment, I would have hyperlinks to two pages: one with the details for students working in A and one for those working in B.

Apart from that, you could look at using Mastery Paths to unlock specific assignments. You would first build a quiz where the students choose A or B. You make A full credit and B worth zero. You also need to build two versions of every A and B assignment (one for if it is in the first half and one for the second half). You connect all of the first half A assignments to the full credit mastery path. You connect all of the first half B assignments to the zero points mastery path. You would then make a similar quiz for choosing A or B to be given mid-semester and would attach the second half copies of assignments to those mastery paths.
