Status Name Abbreviations

Can I modify the status abbreviation options for submissions? Right now the only available for assignments are excused, none, missing, and late. I see there are others available, but I am not able to apply them to submissions. Can Canvas please allow teachers to modify names of status abbreviations? The ones provided do NOT meet my needs.

Hi @Lasa,

Your school/institution Canvas team can add custom statuses to the gradebook if they feel it's appropriate and compatible with any potential integrations with your student information system.  Because of the complexities of the way grades work in Canvas and integrated systems, I have a feeling this won't be something that teachers will be able to customize for individual courses.  Hopefully you can work with your Canvas team to implement some custom things that would work for everyone at your school/institution.
