How are users notified when Commons content they brought into their Canvas course has been updated? is there anything other than the Updates tab in Commons?

In taking a look at the following Guide, How do I view updates to resources I previously im... - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com), there's a sentence at end of the first paragraph in the light blue box that states, "When an update is available, it will appear in the updates page, in the notifications center, and in the resource detail page."
