Hi, when a teacher writes feedback, he can use line breaks to make the text readable, but they don't appear in the student view. Why is this, and are there any solutions?

Hello @jonna_radegard
Thank you for contacting the Instructure Community. We're sorry to hear you've been experiencing issues with formatted comments remaining. It could be a number of things but I did just leave a comment as a teacher in my Canvas course and hit enter to create spaces between the lines of text so that there were gaps between the text. Then, as the teacher the gaps remained in Speedgrader. I then logged in as the student and the gaps also remained. It did not bunch all text together without the spaces I manually entered. How is the teacher leaving these comments? In speedgrader? Or elsewhere? Are they using an internet browser or the app? Is the app or browser up to date? etc. Are they viewing the comments in student view or an actual student? As in is this a real submission or are they testing things? There's a lot of variables here.
Because of the complexity of the issue, and the concerns for privacy, you may want to Canvas Support directly to pinpoint the source of the issue and provide a resolution:
How do I contact Canvas Support? - Instructure Community
Hi, @greydon and others. This is occurring for me and for all the teachers regardless off browser and also regardless of test och real student. Maybe it has something to do with assignment enhancements that we have activated and likes very much. I think this is something for Canvas to fix.
I contacted support and they say that the students are not seeing the space at all and it´s unclear if this is even being worked on unfortunately.

Since this has been posted almost a year now, I was wondering on the status at Instructure. I have recently been contacted by more faculty with this exact issue. Their feedback looks great when they view it, but when students go to Grades and view Comments, it is one big block of text with no formatting. One instructor even tried to use a list for the students but it came out looking like a long sentence with a bunch of hyphens on the student end.
Currently I recommend using more than one comment in lieu of paragraphs, but that does not help a list much. Usually we are all using Chromium browsers on Windows or MAC computers. Some students are using various mobile devices as well.
With the new SpeedGrader UI, we are seeing student names appear in the page title even when the “Hide student names” setting is enabled. When using Classic Quizzes, there is no option within the quiz settings to enable anonymous grading, so we rely on instructors using the hide student names setting in SpeedGrader to…
Speedgrader chaning file name when being downloaded. Speedgrader: When downloading a submitted assignment, the file name is being changed to an unrecognizable name — (Student's actual name was part of the file name — changed for privacy.) Ideas???
We are all familiar with the standard Course Calendar, where assignment due dates are automatically added. However, at my institution, we structure our assignments as Challenges that develop over a period of time, rather than just a single deadline. Currently, the calendar only highlights the "end point." It would be a…
The current placement of the "Submit" button creates a "slip" in user behavior where habit-clicking "Next" leads to an accidental final submission. I think Canvas could easily fix this by: Moving the Submit button away from the navigation buttons (maybe above the question instead of below it) and/or Adding a "Confirm…
