Gradebook is showing submission icon instead of grades. When clicked, it shows grade but then goes back to icon when you click away. Any suggestions?

Does the assignment in question allow for multiple attempts/submissions? What do you see if you go to Speedgrader or the assignment detail screen? The submission icon generally indicates that there is something which requires action from the instructor, such as grading a submission, or a quiz question which cannot be automatically graded.
Is there a trick to importing a rubric when using the Canvas rubric template?
