Grade sync is missing in my navigation bar

Hello Canvas community,

Setting up Canvas for this year,  I noticed that "grade sync" is missing in my navigation bar.  I can still see it when going to the navigation tab in settings, but for whatever reason, it's not viewable.  If I enable it, it will move up to the student navigation tools, but I've never had to do that before.

Any answers?  Thank you.

Hi @cmwsully68,

I'm assuming "Grade Sync" is a tool for your specific school, as I know we don't have that tab in Canvas at my institution.  As a Canvas admin, I'd guess that your school changed what's called the "default visibility" of the tool (probably to help shorten the lenght of the menu), meaning that for newly created courses it would only be available if you went to the navigation settings and enabled it, as you pointed out.  I'd suggest reaching out to your school's Canvas team (usually in the eLearning / IT / Digital Education areas) to verify they made this change and that it was intentional.
