Invalid Pairing code

My son generated a Pairing Code on his Canvas account, but when I try to create a parent observer account it says "Invalid Pairing Code." There is no further information available so we tried again and created and entreted a new pairing code, but got the same notice. Any suggestions as to what could be wrong would be appreciated.

Hi @MollyRichter,

I'm so sorry to hear you are having trouble with the pairing code. I found a few other posts/solutions for this issue, and they mentioned copying and pasting the code was giving them trouble. The recommendation was to type in the code manually.

Another important note is a student can have five active pairing codes at one time. If a student has five active pairing codes and a new pairing code is generated, the oldest pairing code will become inactive. This FAQ might also be helpful for you.

I was having the same problem. Then I went to the Account tab in my parent profile, and clicked "Observing." A box popped up where I pasted the pairing code from my student, and it worked. I hope it works for those who are having trouble too!
