Administrator Access To Class Notebooks - OneNote

Hi Canvas Community

We have a teacher who is currently unavailable to teach their class, and all the course content is stored in their Class Notebook (OneNote).

I understand that the relief teacher is not able to access the Class Notebook unless it has previously been shared with them.

Is there a way that as a Canvas Administrator I am able to view the Notebook? Or, does anyone know if there is another work-around I can try?

Hi @CatherineLittle,

You may be able to act as the teacher in Canvas to check what you may be able to access. Because OneNote is a 3rd party integration, it may or may not work while acting as another user.  I would always advise checking with any applicable supervisors and possibly the legal team before giving access to someone's materials to someone else.  Depending on the what country you're in and your school/institution policies, it may not be appropriate to do that (for example, I'm only allowed to do something like that in case of an unexpected emergency, like a medical issue.  If someone retired and we hired a new teacher, he only person authorized to give material to the new teacher would be the original one).  The practices around this vary widely, so it may not be an issue for you at all, but I wanted to bring it up for the awareness of anyone who might come across this thread in the future too.
