Whenever possible, I prefer to have my students take in-class quizzes and tests on their laptops. But to make sure that they do it in the classroom, I've always put a password on the assessment and then given them the password. That way they can't take it somewhere else on their own (or somewhere else, not on their own). That works fine if I'm just using Canvas. And it also worked with Canvas and the Lockdown Browser. But my university, stopped paying for the Lockdown Browser, and so now I only have Honorlock. But I can't set a password with Honorlock. I asked an online helpdesk person at Honorlock about the possibility of adding a second password (that the instructor would control). She said it would be a feature that Canvas would have to add. That sounds right, I guess, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know if that would be a Canvas feature or an Honorlock feature?
I know that I can make an assessment available on a person-by-person basis using "Assign To," and that is one solution, although it would be tough with a large class. I can also make students access something password-protected in one module that (once it's been accessed) gives them access to the module with the Honorlock protected assessment. But that seems kind of bothersome, especially for students who are nervous about taking a test. Does anyone have any other ideas?
