What happens if the banner roster is uploaded into canvas and’s the students on that roster are not in that course? What happens in canvas? Are the students deleted Is the work deleted?
This is a situation that happens sometimes at my college, @KendylNeill11, where Canvas course enrollment is pushed from our SIS system (we use PeopleSoft) but our instructors have the ability to manually enroll users in their classes. If an instructor manually enrolls a student's user and then that student officially enrolls in the class and thus their user's enrollment is pushed from PeopleSoft to Canvas, none of that student user's work is lost. That is because the same user is being enrolled both times, and a user's work in a Canvas course appears whenever that user is enrolled.
What causes problems for us is when a student is officially dropped from a class. At the next synchronization between PeopleSoft and Canvas, that student's user is removed from the course. We've had situations where instructors manually reenroll student users after a drop has occurred, and every four hours or so (that's how frequently we update Canvas enrollment) those users are moved from Canvas!
I expect this to be the same with Banner, though I suggest asking your local system administrators to confirm the kinds of instructions they include with the Banner-to-Canvas communication.
